Easy Fruit Cake

6 ounces butter.
6 ounces sugar.
3 beaten eggs.
1 rounded teaspoon baking powder.
9 ounces plain flour.
8 ounces dried mixed fruit.

Beat the butter and sugar to a cream, then beat in the
flour and eggs thoroughly. Stir in the fruit and the
baking powder and add a very little milk to make a
dropping consistency. Turn into a greased tin (no need
to line with greased paper) and bake for 2 hours. For the
first half hour in a good moderate oven ( 350°F, Gas 4)
then bake for 1+ hours at a reduced heat (300°F, Gas 2).
