Enchanted Forest Dunkeld

The Enchanted Forest

Te renowned Enchanted Forest light and sound extravaganza returns to Faskally Wood, near Pitlochry, between October 20 and November 5. Centred around Loch Dunmore, the focus of the 2006 show will be 'reflections'.

The Enchanted Forest 2006 is the fifth in an increasingly successful line of annual events organised by the Perthshire Big Tree Country initiative, and supported by EventScotland. The 2005 event attracted over 10,000 people. A new production company takes the helm - Tower Productions will light the way in this year's Perthshire experience.

As ever an illuminated path will guide visitors through this colourful and watery treat. The show begins with a 15-minute choreographed display of amazing technicolour and energetic fire effects accompanied by a unique and contemporary music beat.

This years performance uses the loch as a still blank canvas thus enjoying and playing with the image and effects created by light reflecting on the surface.

After the 'show' visitors will be free to meander along the loch-side paths where they will encounter; Fairy lit trees, giant geysers bursting into fountains, and the illusion of a deep red floating bridge.

By popular demand - Spooky Wood - will be making a come-back, complete with UV equipment and motion sensors to trigger lights and scary sound-effects.

The whole experience will last up to 75 minutes but visitors are encouraged to linger longer and enjoy the show again should they wish.

Commenting on this year's event, James McDougall, of the Forestry Commission Scotland, who is responsible for the event said;

"Scotland has a wealth of amazing forests and lochs; The Enchanted Forest is a great way to showcase them in a unique way. We hope this will encourage people to get out and about more and think of Perthshire's woodlands as a destination all year round."

Hamish Murray, Forestry Commission Manager for Faskally said:

"We are ecstatic at the prospect of welcoming the Enchanted Forest back to Faskally, and we hope visitors will enjoy these woodlands both during the performance and in the daylight hours as well."

No car parking facilities will be available at Faskally on performance nights. A Bus shuttle service will run from the West car park in Pitlochry.
