General Tours Of Scotland

You have two choices when you offer your guests a general small group tour of Scotland. Either you move location every night as you travel around Scotland, or you base as much of the tour as possible out of a good base location. Personally, I prefer not to move luggage every day, and waste huge amounts of time. On a seven day tour of Scotland, I normally base out of a beautiful central Highland Perthshire location such as Dunkeld. From Dunkeld I can easily visit Edinburgh, Stirling, Loch Ness, The Trossachs, Braemar, Perth and St Andrews, to name just a few good Scottish destinations.

Even from a base location such as Dunkeld there is no such thing as a set itinerary even for a General Tour of Scotland. Not for me anyway. As a small group tour guide I specialize in matching itineraries to the needs and desires of group members, thus, even on a general tour of Scotland, I rarely have a standard itinerary, and will still personalize the tour depending upon the personal interests of group members. For example, if you have golfers in a particular group, they will most certainly wish to visit St Andrews. But, even if you don't have golfers, St Andrews is worth a visit anyway. St Andrews is a good example of a very good multi-purpose Scottish destination with good shopping, gardens, beaches and historic buildings.

As I am a " Fifer " from the Kingdom of Fife, I do enjoy showing folks around my native Kingdom. This is also an important part of the personalization of small group tours of Scotland; showing your guests your own home area of the country. Who knows it better than a local ?

On any general tour of Scotland it is impossible to visit every major Scottish destination. Most of your guests will wish to spend a whole day in Edinburgh and will, of course, wish to visit Loch Ness. Typically, they will also wish to visit a Scottish Castle, or two; a Scottish Distillery, and of course view some of our most beautiful Lochs and Glens.
